Run time: 52 min. | France
Would you believe there's an island in the South Pacific that to this day worships a WW2 American GI as their God and patiently awaits his return? It's so fantastic and dripping with weirdness and irony that it's almost a put-on, until you realize it's not. Like Kurtz from Heart of Darkness, John Frum, the still-missing GI (or was that really him on the phone?) hangs over this tale of the modern world colliding with the so-called primitive in a way that tickles, confounds and fascinates.
