Larry McMurtry comes to Marfa to present "The Last Picture Show" his sublime portrait of small-town Texas, with all of its power and pain, a great enduring classic of American cinema and winner of multiple academy awards. Assembling one of the great casts in Hollywood history, the movie features Timothy Bottoms, Jeff Bridges, Cloris Leachman, Ben Johnson, Cybill Sheppard, Ellen Burstyn and a young Randy Quaid, among others. Johnson and Leachman both won Academy Awards for their performances. Mythical Anarene, TX, based on McMurtry's hometown of Archer City, may remind some of Marfa.
